It was the first day in a new school for Ali. So far, it had been like any other day in any other school, except there were teachers explaining things she already knew and updating her on what was going on in their classes--again, unnecessary. Still, it hadn't been a bad day so far. So, it was lunch, or so the US History teacher had told her. Ali made her way to the cafeteria, following the crowd to find her way. Of course, she had no money, so instead of following the other kids into the line, she veered off and sat at a table by herself, opening her history book and glaring at her schedule. Spanish. It was her next class--a class she'd already taken (and passed), and a class for a language she was already fluent in. Well, hmph. She didn't want to bother any of the office staff with her trivial problems. And maybe they'd put her in Spanish because all the other classes were full. She'd ask about it after school. { Derp. I'M STARTING A ROLEPLAY BECAUSE I CAN. #SI! }

Finn had heard there was a new kid at McKinley. Sure, he didn't really bother himself with finding out who it was or anything, but he couldn't help but feel a tad curious as to where she fit in. Was she a Cheerio? Was she an art freak, nerd, or even a soon-to-be Glee Clubber? Shrugging it off, he went to lunch. He was accompanied by a few buddies, but he ignored them as he saw an unfamiliar face in the corner of his eye.
Must be her. Finn concluded to himself, and wondered why she was just glaring at an open book. Be a leader, Finn Hudson, go over and say Hi. Convincing himself inside his head seemed to be working, for him, but he was pretty sure anyone else would've thought him to be a lunatic.
Holding his breath, he did as he told himself, and walked over to the empty table of which she had sat herself. "Hi. Uh, are you the new girl? I'm Finn." He offered a polite smile as he introduced himself. After all, it wasn't like he didn't possess manners. To sit, or not to sit. That was the question, here. For now, he'd stand behind her and relatively close.
Wow, even saying that inside of his head made him sound like a creep. Finn stared at his feet as he waited for a response. The star quarterback of the football team was shy? No way...

Ali started at first when she heard a voice behind her, and she quickly turned around, staring for a moment. "Yes, I'm new here... I'm Ali." She quickly shut her book and smiled politely. "...You can sit down, if you want," she offered, glancing at the mostly empty table. Well, that was surprising. Maybe this school would be different--or maybe he just wanted in her pants (...figuratively). Whatever. She sat, waiting patiently for him to do something other than to stand there shyly.

Finn nodded once and smiled softly, "Nice to meet you, Ali. Uh, aren't you gonna eat?" He pointed at the empty space (aka the book) in front of her. Finn liked to eat, and he liked to eat a lot. It gave him energy to be better on the field, as long as he ate the right things. So he was prepared to get up in the line and chow down. He just didn't want Ali to starve or something because she was the new kid, or didn't want to go up there by herself, or something of that sort. Kindness was always the right way... usually.

"Nice to meet you too, Finn." She looked down at the table and blinked, then looked back to him. "I don't eat a lot, really. I'd rather spend the twelve dollars I'd spend on school lunches a week on something that will last me a lot longer." She shrugged and pulled out her iPod. Which reminded her... "Does this school have a Glee club, or choir or something? I'd love to join."

Finn shrugged and put his hands in his pockets, "Well, alright. I mean, I don't have a lot of money, but I could buy you something for like... a dollar out of the vending machine?" He took a seat beside her and nodded, "Yeah, we have a Glee club called the New Directions. I'm uh," he ran his hands through his hair, keeping his voice low even though the whole school knew he was in glee club anyway, "I'm in it. It'd be really cool if you joined. How long have you been singing?" Oh, small talk. Finn wasn't hungry anymore anyway.

Ali shook her head quickly. "No, it's all right. I'm not hungry, anyway." At least not at the moment. She tensed up when he sat down next to her, but quickly relaxed. "Oh, really?" was asked casually as she settled into a more comfortable position. "...Hmm... Well, my parents' families are both very musical, so until my parents died, I was pretty much always surrounded by music... Eastern European, German... and Spanish... And gypsy stuff. After they died... I was kind of hopscotched through foster families so I never had a big opportunity to listen to music or sing or anything... But it's a part of my culture... and a part of me, so anything to be involved with it."

Finn's eyes grew wide at the statement of her parents dying. "Oh my god," he furrowed his eyebrows, "I'm sorry if that was uncomfortable to answer or anything. I mean, I didn't know." He looked away nervously, tried to regain composure, and then looked back up at her. "Well, we'd love to have you join. We could use another member or so." He offered another polite grin and then stretched his arms out in front of him, making a long groaning sound. Finn was so tired. He almost fell asleep in his last class, and that was kinda rare for him. Hopefully he could make it through the rest of the day. "You get lost yet?" He smirked as he asked this question playfully. Trying to lighten the mood, naturally.

Ali chuckled darkly and waved a hand dismissively. "No, no. It's fine... It was a long time ago, it doesn't really bother me anymore." She quirked a brow after his pause, smirking. "I will definitely join, then. Should be fun..." She winked playfully and flashed him a wicked grin. Indeed, it would be fun... At his question, she chuckled. "Nah. The neighborhood friendly gay's been directing me to my classes... thank God."

Should be fun, huh? All the playful winking and stuff sure did send Finn a... *ahem* signal. He smirked a tad but then quirked his head to the side. "Neighborhood friendly gay?" He raised his eyebrow and looked out on the rest of the cafeteria. Who would that be, since Kurt transferred? Finn personally didn't know any other gay person. Man, he really needed to step his game up!

Ali shrugged. "He didn't say he was gay or anything but I got a gay vibe from him. I dunno, I could've been wrong, I guess. It's not a big deal, anyway." She looked down at the table and cleared her throat quietly. "So, um... Anything else you do, besides sing in your spare time?" she asked as she looked back up at him. OOC: Her clothes should be giving him signals too.

Finn smiled and shrugged, "Your gaydar's as good as mine." He crossed his arms and leaned them on the table, to get more comfortable. "Plenty, actually. I like sports a lot, so I do some of those. Football, basketball, you know. How about you? I know you just got here and don't do anything," he lifted his hands to do air quotes, " 'officially', " and, put them back down again, "but any cool hobbies?"
ooc: probably should've taken that into consideration /derp xP

"....Well, I don't know about you, but my gaydar's excellent. I'm rarely ever wrong..." She shrugged with a sigh. "Oh, so... you're a... jock? That sings? Interesting combination... not a bad one, though. I kinda like it, actually... Are you sensitive, too?" She smirked and winked again, then thought a moment before answering him. "Well... You could say some of my 'hobbies' are... interesting..." Oh, he had no idea... "I watch scary movies a lot... And I love watching stuff period, whether it's horror, comedy, romance... TV..." Another shrug.

"My gaydar can be excellent.. at times." Finn shrugged and then blinked at her next statement. It made him smile, actually. "I am sensitive, or at least I try to be. I'm not a stone cold, emotionless jock that sings about I don't know, football." He laughed at himself, even though he was trying to make a point. It was kinda validated. "I like movies, too. Horror's my favorite though. Mostly because surprises really amuse me... Ah, I hate it when I talk about myself so much, sorry."

"...At times. Nice." She actually looked surprised at his next words, blinking with wide eyes. "Oh, my God! You're like the perfect man! I wish I was lucky enough to have you... but you're probably already taken..." She gave a playfully forlorn sigh and gave him a mockingly pining gaze before she let herself giggle with his laugh. "Oh, no! You're fine... I like learning more about people... since I'm not really a talker... The only way I can learn more about you is for you to talk! So you like surprises? Do you go to haunted houses every Halloween?" Of course that was asked teasingly.
